Hi. First I want to say "Thank You" for everyone that came and visited me at my tent at the Memorial Show in Kerrville. I know it was a hot and windy show, so I'm sorry it took so long to mention this. For today's update I colored a sketch of a couple of monsters. Nothing big, just some little 'toons I originally sketched up in my notebook at a show in Helotes during some down time.

I also wanted to mention that I am now offering some customizable art in my Etsy store. You can put whatever message you want in the thought balloon and "bingo" you've got something personalized. The painting is the one that I used for the illustration on this blogs title; The cat floating away with the balloons. So until next time...

Saturday Show

Hi Everybody. I wanted to Thank all of the people that paid a visit to my tent at the King William show in San Antonio this weekend. Especially the ones that bought something from me! :) We had a fun time although I was very tired Saturday night. I didn't have too much new stuff but I did manage to finish this painting about Gnomes, so I thought I'd post it now since no one on the internet has seen it yet.

How about this for a compliment! A lady named Nicole sent me an email with pictures telling me that she had tattooed one of my cat drawings onto her wrist. I'm amazed and flattered that she thought so strongly about it that she would make it a part of herself. Emily the cat whom the cartoon is based on, was not available for comment.

Hi Folks.
First I finally finished a new painting. No name for it yet but it's way larger than I usually work and its on canvas. Someone should contact the New York Metropolitan Museum of Art and tell them you found a Masterpiece of modern art. I can't do it because I'm way too modest.
I bet you're wondering how to meet me and purchase my fine products. Well, that easy. Howdy Folks. Well its that time again for the Kraftin Kimmie blog hop and I of course, provide some of the images. Kimmie asked me to work with the Mama duck with the baby buggy, but instead I decided to post the actual picture I took one spring of the mama duck walking to a pond with her babies. I had to stop my truck to take this picture and to keep from hitting her. I think I captured the likeness pretty well in the illustration.

Hey Folks,
Just a quick update to show you I'm still working on stuff. The title is: "Tree Potato". It's an acrylic on canvas and measures 9x12". The scanner had real trouble with the colors so this is as close as I can get it. I don't have any prints available yet but let me know if you're interested and I'll get on it. Koala's Rule and they will take over the earth.

It got popular and other artist's started drawing their own versions, so they started a Blog just for this subject. The Dueling Banjo Pigs Blog. There's more than a hundred now. This is my second one. The wife suggested this one and when I had some free time I sketched it up in ink and watercolor in my sketchbook.

Well after a hard day fighting off Sperm Whales it's time for cake! Hey, Squids like cake too. It's a proven fact... really.

I've decided to paint up my popular ATC squidcakes. It was done in acrylic on 4x6 inch stretched canvas. I'm going to make the image available in a new format for me. OK. I've been away for awhile. I'm sorry if I kept you waiting. If you still check this site; I am honored and I thank you. Apparently my muse was kidnapped and held for ransom. She was tied up in an old whiskey barrel somewhere in North Dakota. I've found her and she is recovering from her ordeal. Here's a goofy nonsense doodle painting I did yesterday at a Starbucks with the brushes app on the itouch.

On Saturday I went to a museum in San Antonio to see some work by one of my influences Edward Gorey. I really enjoyed seeing the originals and it made me want to render something in pen and ink. I use to use ink all the time and I kind of miss it, but I noticed my eyes get tired quicker now. sigh.

So, what do imaginary friends do if they don't have a human to hang out with? They make one. You can order a kit on the imaginary internet... I'd imagine.

Hey folks, just finished doing the Texas Arts and Crafts Show in Kerrville. For the most part I had a good time. I saw a lot of people that I haven't seen in a couple of years, and it was great seeing them all. The weather didn't always behave, especially on Saturday, so I had some down time in my show booth and I did some sketches. Here's one of them. Its kinda raw but I might develop it more. For those of you that knew him, Logan passed away on Tuesday. He was the original inspiration for all the of cartoons on this site featuring the pale yellow cat. After 15 years, he had quite a few human friends and he will be missed.

The Lost Freds...

A long time ago, it seems. There was a strip called "The Fred Chronicles". A warped surreal single panel cartoon starring Fred. An Alien from Inner Space. We stopped production in 2002 so some of you don't remember it but for those that do, here's a jolt from the past. Drakkmar found 2 strips that were drawn and forgotten about in 2000. He's captioned them and delivered them to me. So here they are the never before seen: LOST CARTOONS OF THE FRED CHRONICLES!

The 3 Wise Monkeys

Mizaru, Iwazaru and Kikazaru
The 3 wise monkeys. See No Evil, Hear No Evil and Speak No Evil.
Most people don't know that there is a fourth monkey: Shizaru - The Do No Evil Monkey. He's covering his crotch... I was going to draw him too but, you know, people don't want pictures of monkeys grabbing themselves.
I would like to suggest a 5th monkey to the collective conscience. Bobbyzaru - The Fling No Evil Monkey. That would be a monkey covering his butt. Seems appropriate for the times.

Prints I think, will be available if I can get a better scan. Also, check my Deviantart link for new ATCs that I'm selling on Ebay.

Ok, I know it's been like two weeks. I know your saying stuff like: "Where the Hell is my Steven Art fix? Why hasn't he posted? Why hasn't he called me? God he's sexy! Does this checkered tie really go with my hat?" But rest assured gentle viewer, I have been working on some new stuff and getting some prints developed. Hopefully it will be done soon. In the meantime, if you were watching me on the Deviantart site you would have seen that I have been posting some ATC's. So, since it's been over a week since I've posted anything, I thought I'd post a sketch. The ever-popular Frog Prince. He's a smooth mover with the ladies. So another year is gone and new one is born. Each year comes in looking all cute and full of promise and you just wanna pinch it's cheeks! And then it happens, you realize that Time is a big slobbering thing, each year is nibbling at us, consuming us, until we are just a sticky mess of goo. And not just us, the whole world will be a cold, dead thing; a half consumed Dilly Bar orbiting around a dying star until the sun explodes sending the last remnants like a hastily discarded diaper to the far flung reaches of the great void...

The title of this is "Nonchalant".
What's the Lion going to do next? Is he gonna eat the Zebras? Or is he perhaps a vegetarian and is just trying to figure out the right way to tell them that they are really fat and that they need to lay off the super buttered Zebra treats? I think we all know the answer... He actually sales Amway.

So what is the zebra looking at? If you immediately guessed a meat eating Vienna Sausage, you of course have sustained a blow to the head. This sketch was done back in 2003 and I have dug it out, given it away to family and then decided to do a full color render of it. So stay tuned. I was experimenting with this new watercolor paper I've never used before and drew this. It has some mistakes but I still liked it. Since it was an experiment I am posting it because I'm experimenting with this blog. I'm not sure if I will use this blog yet on a regular basis because my fan base is very tiny but it seems cool.
